Poldark
Poldark and filming
Chavenage House is a wonderful Elizabethan house of mellow Cotswold stone which is a family home as well as often being used as a location for TV and film productions.

Famous stars to have graced the house include Oscar-winning Eddie Redmayne, Jamie Dornan, the late Warren Clarke as well as Aidan Turner.

The BBC's remake of 'Poldark' the romantic saga set in 18th century Cornwall is based on the novels by Winston Graham, and has been such a success that it was made for a total of five series!

But Chavenage House has a history of its own as well for visitors to hear about and you can escape into the peaceful surroundings of a Cotswold manor, virtually unchanged for 400 years.

Take an intimate tour of the house with the current owner, David Lowsley-Williams, and you’ll get to hear about the ghosts who allegedly stalk the corridors.

You’ll also get to see the rooms where Oliver Cromwell and his General, Ireton, stayed in 1648 (look out for the swords, pikes and other Civil War relics), along with the other immaculate, wood-walled rooms.
